On 15 August, a powerful earthquake struck Flores, Indonesia, damaging homes across the island and leaving many families facing urgent repairs and an uncertain recovery.

Flores is home to the farmers, team members and wider communities behind IKAT cacao. Together with IKAT Cacao, we have established an emergency relief campaign to support both the wider affected region and members of the IKAT community.

Approximately 65% of funds raised will be distributed to two or three carefully selected relief organisations operating in Flores and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The remaining 35% will be provided directly to verified affected farmers, staff members and families connected to IKAT.

The local IKAT team is documenting damage, verifying individual circumstances and assessing where support is most urgently needed. Once the funds have been distributed, we will publish the final allocation, details of the selected partner organisations and a transparent report outlining how the money was used.

In addition to direct community donations, Soma Cacao will contribute 5% of all revenue for Flores Island Ceremonial Cacao received between now and 7 September to the relief effort.
