Daintree Ceremonial Cacao
This premium quality, certified organic cacao is sourced from the pristine Daintree region, in spectacular Far North Queensland. The trees grow between two World Heritage Listed natural wonders: on one side, the world-famous Great Barrier Reef; on the other, the Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest and most ecologically diverse rainforests in the world.
Great care is taken by the growers to ensure that there is no chemical run-off that could pollute the soils and waterways of the region. Fertilisers are derived from on-farm inputs, including leaves, prunings and cacao pods. Cacao pod juice, a by-product of the extraction process, is fermented and used as a natural weed-killer. Green ants thrive in the environment, acting as natural pest controllers by preying on beetles, termites and moths.

Note: There's a small chance your cacao may melt during transit. Rest assured, it's still perfectly fine—just let it solidify at room temperature (or in the fridge if it's hot) and chop it up. Many brands sell cacao this way; we simply shave it for your convenience. :)
The Mayans called cacao “the food of the gods”. Along with its rich history of ritualistic and medicinal use, cacao’s crown jewel is theobromine: a gentle, long lasting stimulant that energises us like caffeine, without punishing us with brain-fog and jittery hands later in the day. It’s also rich in essential minerals and produces mood-boosting bioactive compounds - dopamine, serotonin, anandamide (the 'bliss molecule') and P.E.A, an antidepressant also known as the 'love drug'.

INGREDIENTS:
- 2-3 Tbs Soma Cacao
- 110 mL hot water
- 50 mL milk (we like oat milk)
- 1-2 tsps sweetener (honey, coconut sugar, or maple syrup work great)
METHOD:
Blend all ingredients together using a blender, milk-frother, or whisk. Inhale, sip slowly, and savour!
Cacao powder (or cocoa powder) has undergone intensive processing to extract cacao butter from the paste. This leaves the cacao chalkier and more insipid, and also reduces the fat content, which is vital for the transmission of the neuro-active substances. Studies have proven the widely used method to produce cocoa powder (dutch-processing) significantly decreases the levels of compounds with positive physiological effects.
Our cacao contains the entire cacao bean (excluding the husk/shell). We add nothing, we take nothing away, maintaining the highest concentration of antioxidants, essential minerals, and bliss-inducing compounds.
As an energy source cacao feels more gentle, long-lasting and smooth, while coffee is intense, fast-acting and short-lived. This is because caffeine is a nervous system stimulant, and it produces cortisol, the stress hormone, which can lead to the jitters and anxiety. By contrast, cacao's active ingredient, theobromine, reduces cortisol. This helps us to relax. Cacao also stimulates the cardiovascular system, and opens our blood vessels. One of the origins I purchase the most as it has a strong, grounded flavour profile. I like that it's a local region for me as well as the Daintree is about 2 hours drive away from home.
This cacao is lovely to drink and makes me feel good to support a locally grown, ethical product. It produces more of a chill vibe

Have replaced my first morning cup of coffee with cacao for a few weeks now. I’ve felt such a difference in mental clarity. Less fog, less nervousness, more grounded and centered in thoughts and feelings. I was up to 3 coffees a day in the morning which made me feel scattered, unfocused. Cacao doesn’t wake me, it enlivens me. I use the daintree sourced one daily, but also have the Mexican one, and recently tried the Peru one, which is delicious!! “chocolatey” and robust. Think I’ve tried them all now. So glad I swapped out coffee with this .
There is not one thing I don't love about this particular cacao. The fact that it's local, meaning that not only is it's carbon footprint low for me, but I know it to be grown on very special ancient land. It also packs a great, strong flavour, which I suppose is also quite relevant!
The only way to wake up in the morning is having a Soma Cacao. Once you start you will never look back. I made a lovely overnight weetbix sprinkled with Cacao. You can use cacao in so many ways not just a hot drink, Cacao is my number 1 go to. Before I started drinking cacao I used to have really low iron levels leaving me tired and no energy all the time, now my iron levels are up and I have more energy than ever, it’s not just a yummy chocolatey drink but it’s full of health benefits, too many to list in a review and for me raising iron levels is just one of the many perks. My favourite is the Daintree but I have had them all and they are all yummy.
Delicious, velvety. Like a warm hug
The Daintree cacao is my go to as I just love it, especially as the nights get chillier. I have always drunk it straight, but this time decided to give the three super foods a go as well and have been trying them out one at a time in the cacao. All three add another delicious dimension and I can't decide on a favourite. I also bought a small bag of the Peruvian cacao to try and was not disappointed. It too is wonderful. My only complaint about these lovely people is that there are too many choices and I have to make a decision with each order :-)
I love the Daintree cacao, it blends to a beautiful rich, smooth, uplifting brew, I use water and almond milk and best of all its from Australia 🇦🇺
