I love this Daintree Ceremonial Cacao. It's rich and smooth and warm and comforting, with a chill out vibe that helps me de-stress and mellow out, but also gives me energy without the coffee jitters. It also has all the good stuff inside such as theobromine and bioactive compounds, so it not only tastes sensational I know it is doing me good. I love that it's grown here in Australia, also.

I am absolutely in love with the Soma Peruvian Ceremonial Cacao. It is well rounded and bold but not bitter. I have been using now for a couple months to replace coffee at morning tea time, I so look forward to it and quite frankly don't miss my coffee, which was organic and homemade from coffee beans.
with cacao, I feel nourished and energised, for hours and do not get the high then low that coffee does. It is so much more satisfying. I ran out for a few days before my last order arrived and I really missed it. Two thumbs up. Very highly recommended!!!

Wow, wow, wow!
I’ve am addicted to my regular cup of Karkar but when I read the description of Mexican I had to try it. W.O.W. Deeply chocolatey and rich Mexican is perfect in every single way. I love it ‘black’, mixed with decaf coffee, a little vanilla and some MCT oil. Mexican is my new passion, I just hope there is enough to go round because I’m going to want more.

I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but all of 2025 I’ve been trying to make it work — chasing that energy boost everyone raves about. No luck. I never felt a thing from coffee, and honestly, I don’t even enjoy the taste (though I do love the smell).

A couple of weeks ago, I bought my first bag of Mexican cacao from Soma. My order arrived quickly, and about five days ago I finally decided to open it up and follow their instructions to make my first drink.

Here’s my little cacao journey:

Day 1:
I went straight in with 2 scoops, mixed with warm water and oat milk as suggested. It smelled divine — rich and chocolatey — but a little bitter since it’s pure cacao with no added sugar. A few hours later, I felt a burst of energy, though I wasn’t sure if it was connected yet.

Day 2:
Tried again, but tweaked the mix — less water, more oat milk, and 2 teaspoons of low-GI sugar. Now we’re talking! A few hours later, definite increase in energy, both mentally and physically. I felt more positive and uplifted than I have in a long time!

Day 3:
More experimenting. I skipped the water entirely and just used warm high-protein oat milk in my milk frother, adding 2 scoops of cacao directly. Instant success! Thick, creamy, and cozy — exactly what I wanted. Added 2 teaspoons of low-GI sugar again, took a sip and thought, “I’m almost there.” A few hours later — amazing, sustained energy and such a happy, positive mood all day!

Day 4:
Perfected formula: 200ml oat milk, 2 scoops cacao, warmed in my Breville frother. This time, I only added half a teaspoon of low-GI sugar — plus a scoop of my chocolate protein powder and some ice cubes, blended it all together in my Ninja blender. THIS. IS. IT. My perfect morning drink! Smooth, creamy, energizing — and the good vibes lasted all day long!

Day 5:
It’s 6:19pm as I write this review — I drank my cacao at 7:30am — and I’m still feeling amazing. The positive energy and mood boost are unreal.

Really beautiful cacao, I am really enjoying the different flavours, especially from the Solomon Islands which is a little smokey. My go to drink for my morning commute!

My wife's favorite, she may be biased though as she is Peruvian.
I eat a lot of single origin dark chocolate, and love the cacao from Peru. Soma have definitely sourced a great quality product from Peru.
A good choice if you're new to dark chocolate or 100% cacao, not too bitter.

I love Soma Cocoa, I've tried most of their varieties but the Mexican is without question, my favourite. Its smooth texture and delicious flavour have me coming back for more. I find it helps manage my mood swings and the aches and pains that kicked in with menopause. I can feel it doing me good and can really notice the difference. Life is better with Soma.
